[1.2.14 to 1.2.15]-Did System Requirements Change???

Hi,

Have a strange issue with my SDL 1.2 video game.

I ran my SDL 1.2 game on my very old and slow NetBook today
and I am having strange graphic problems?
(sprites not displaying or not displaying correct loaded image)

I remember running an older SDL 1.2.14 version of my game
on this same NetBook and it did not have the aforementioned graphic issues.

Did the system requirements for SDL 1.2 change from 1.2.14 to 1.2.15 ?
NetBook has an Intel Atom 1.6GHz CPU 32Bit, 2GB RAM, and an Intel Mobile 945 Express Chipset graphic adapter.
NetBook also runs Windows 8 Professional 32Bit perfectly too.

Is there somewhere where I can download older SDL 1.2.14 to test?

You can download the game here:
http://16bitsoft.com/V2/TetriCrisis4.htm
(it’s open-source cross-platform)

Hi Again,

This is how it looks on NetBook:

And this is how it should look:

You have this big difference with the same binary changing only the SDL dll
in the binary directory?

The only thing I can think looking at your screenshots it’s that It could
be some problem with image loading and you fallback to the “Start!” image
if you fail…–

Hi,

The source code to this project did not change between the two screenshots shown above.
The only difference is the good screenshot is using SDL 1.2.14 and the bad screenshot is using SDL 1.2.15.

Also should be noted that I am now using the most current versions of:

  • SDL_image
  • SDL_mixer
  • SDL_ttf

Perhaps there is a problem with using the newest versions of above libraries?
(particularly SDL_image)

Where can I download older versions of above 3 libraries?
Thanks!------------------------

Torsten gave you the key already. Here’s another example:
