[1.2+OpenGL]-Play mpg Movie To Screen?

[1.2+OpenGL]-Play mpg Movie To Screen?

Hi,

My dev team and I are working feverishly
on our next open-source cross-platform project
called “TetriStory 2 100%”.

You can view an exciting dev screenshot here:
http://16bitsoft.com/images/beta/TS2-Dev-Alpha0001.png

The game engine that I developed
(code named: “GTR Twin Turbo”)
uses current SDL 1.2 branch with OpenGL.

I was wondering if there was an easy method
to play an mpg movie to the SDL’s screen?
(using SDL 1.2, SDL_image, SDL_mixer, SDL_ttf, & OpenGL)
The method must be cross-platform.

Let me know, thanks!

Has anyone packaged smpeg in a tar.gz or .zip file? There doesn’t seem to be
one on that web site.

I could, but
a) I’m lazy.
b) I’m hard pressed for time.
c) Both of the above.

Downloading a tar.gz is so much easier, and creating it is not difficult.
Can’t understand why everyone doesn’t do it.

It’s not creating it that’s the problem; it’s keeping it in sync. Building
an archive snapshot (in two different formats!) and then maintaining
both of them and updating both of them each time something gets
checked in, doesn’t seem like “not difficult” to me. More like “egregious
DRY violation.”>----- Original Message ----

That’s what scripts are for. Works for me. Don’t need to do it for every
check-in, just once in awhile.

What’s a “DRY violation”?

Jeff,

Another option seems to be http://www.arjanhouben.nl/SDL_ffmpeg/ (I never
used it)
Here you can find a tutorial (http://dranger.com/ffmpeg/ffmpeg.html) (not
sure if it’s usefull)
In this forum there is also some questions about it.
http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=348340
Search in the forum page for ffplay that might give some info.

ViewVC is able to generate a tarball automatically: that should make
everybody happy!

Hi,

the Qt/Embedded Virtual Framebuffer is based on the Linux framebuffer. Is there a way to port it to SDL?
