# A bigginer question

dear Jesse  
I m using Linux OS : SUSE version 9.2  
It is not a game but I just want to make my self media-player so I decided  
to  
start with the window of my player.  
so can I create that window using SDL package or not.

Yes, you can. But, I suspect it will take a lot longer and be a lot more  
work than you might expect. That will be the case no matter what tool  
kit you use. First you are going to have to understand what a surface is  
and then you are going to have to learn how to draw things on the  
screen. You have a _lot_ of learning to do. If you are not already  
proficient in programming you will have to become proficient before you  
complete this project.

I am not trying to discourage you. Just trying to point out that this  
may be a more difficult project than you think it is.
