! About a rich GUILib!

Hi everybody.

This is my scenario:

  1. I’d like to have a GUI for SDL with the following fatures:
    a) each widget of the gui has the characyters as DFont, so I can edit a new
    fonts set if the application requires changing;
    b) each widget has an HINT support so when the mouse goes on the widget a
    tutorial appears; I need to enable / disable this featues
    c) each widget has an audio HINT so I can give audio tutorial;
    I need to enable / disable this featues.

There is such a GUI on the net?
If there isn’t any such a GUI, Could be a good Idea ti start from GUILib 1.0
and make in richer of properties and methods, or is it better to start from
other libraries?

Is anyone interested to work with me in this project?

Thanks for answers, and many regards.

Fabio Giovagnini.

I’m working on such a GUI now, though it isn’t ready yet. I call the 'hints’
tooltips as in windows. Regrettably it’s only in it’s beginning stages, but
the primary class is setup already. The big thing will be extending it.
There shouldn’t be too much novel and new stuff to do at this point:

http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/~sjss/gildocs/

this is just an API reference, though I’ll be making some changes soon.

Also, it’s C++. (One of the changes it to make the mousehandler
automatically handle tooltips, rather than needing it programmed in
specially.

So far the best looking API reference I’ve seen is that of LibSDL, so I
tried to mimic that when writing mine, with some (I think) improvements.

Is your project an Open Source project?

Could I help you in development?

Could I download an alpha or CVS version of your library?

I’d love help. I need to start a sourceforge CVS, and there is no alpha or
anything yet. All I have written is the interface object, interfacobjecct
data, and most of interface resources. I’ll email you then. Any help on this
project is definitely appreciated.
