# Announcing SDL\_image 3.1.1 Release Candidate

This is the first release candidate for the official SDL\_image 3.0 release!

IMG\_Init() and IMG\_Quit() are no longer necessary. If an image format requires dynamically loading a support library, that will be done automatically.

Please read through the installation documentation for the packages below and let us know what you think!
