Awesome… I’ve barely had any MPEGs not play with SMPEG.
And I still don’t understand why the default xanim install (at least
on RedHat) is so bad at playing MPEGs. (Lots of noise, very low
framerate.)
Any reason SMPEG is so much better in this avenue? Any possibility of
there being any other video formats supported as SDL library plug-ins?
(ie, an SAVI library? )

MPEG is pretty tricky technology.

We’ve tossed around the idea, but there probably won’t be any Loki
contributed code for a while, due to us being very busy with other
projects.
There is a whole Video4Linux project devoted to this sort of thing.
just wait for my library, its gona suport lots of fun stuff and use SDL
(dont ask for code yet because i need to do a few more things before a
preliminary release so your gona have to wait tell i have some "free"
time)
