Does SDL2 Support Sprite Sheets Made By TexturePacker?


I have this Windows application called “TexturePacker” which makes sprite sheets.
Would above application work with an SDL2 based game?

There’s no built-in support, of course, since SDL is lower level than a specialized image loader. I haven’t seen anyone with a loader implementation in SDL, but you could write your own to parse the TexturePacker metadata. You can choose one of the existing exporters’ formats or create your own. You would load sprites into textures and render them according to their bounding polygons. Depending on your export settings, you might want texture-mapped polygons, though I think you can force it to export rectangles.
