"Flicker" in Linux frame buffer

I have a quick question. I’m sure it’s a question I could have answered myself,
but I am going to be so busy this upcoming week I figured it would be easier to
just ask it on this list :wink:

When I run Tux Typing (my game), which was designed under X but runs fine under
BeOS (and should run fine under other OSes, but we don’t have any other OS
developers ;-), under the Linux framebuffer, I get quite a bit of flicker in the

I was just wondering what I need to do to reduce this flicker under the
framebuffer? Should I be locking my surfaces between screen updates?–
