Game breaks with some music players running

Link to my project: Legend of Pandora

I am currently running Arch Linux and just switched from using VLC to the DeadBeef music player.
When playing music in VLC the game plays perfectly. When using DeadBeef or MOCP sound doesn’t work and I cannot quit out of the game.

If anyone can help me figure out if this is a bug in my code, SDL 1, or Linux I would appreciate it.
