How do I build SDL 1.3 on Windows and Code::Blocks ??

I don’t know much about Code::Blocks… does it use a special project format?

Ummm, nothing particularly special, even though it doesn’t use makefiles.

The Windows version by default uses MinGW’s GCC and GDB. Not sure sure how to compile libraries with it, however, as I never did.

In Code::Blocks, go to File->Import project->MS Visual Studio Solution. I’ve
not tried this yet, so I don’t know how much effort will be required to set
it up for MingW after importing, or if it will even work. But it’s a good
place to start. On Fri, Feb 27, 2009 at 12:37 AM, Patryk Bratkowski wrote:

You can use Makefiles with Code::Blocks somehow, too. You could also just
use MinGW at the command line all Linux-style. I think I was successful
some time ago making the SDL dll with Code::Blocks, but why don’t you just
grab the one that Sam posted recently?

Yeah, you can. But Anjuta, for instance, uses makefiles to compile its projects. While you CAN use makefiles with C::B, it does not generate them for you is what I meant.

And maybe I’m wrong as I never built my own libraries under Windows, but wouldn’t he still have to build SDL to get the .lib files?

I assume the DLL was just that, a DLL, and as the original poster in the other thread was using Delphi, I guess he didn’t need the .lib to link against.
