./configure --enable-ipod

You really won’t get part porting existing apps though, since the
average iPod is pretty underpowered.

Me? No. I’ve never tried iPodLinux at all.

the ipod in question is my friends video ipod, so it must have some kinda whack
behind it as it can play video, also apple have some really suspect games built
in ( think the first games to appear on computers only with smooth colour gfx ).

first step i guess is to get him to let me get my hands on it and install linux
on it, tho i think he may be scared cos of data loss, even tho with the joy of
itunes he has already lost the data on it several times :)----------------------------------------------------------------

If you follow the instructions for installing ipod
linux its completely reversable. And it never
actually touches any of your data files, only your
bootloader.

Though if you have a nano or a 5G you have to repartion, since
iPodLinux needs its own ext2 root partition, which can be a bitch if
your 5G iPod is filled up.

And personally my nano was acting weird while I had iPodLinux on it.
Ever since I removed it so I can update my firmware I didn’t put it
back, and it works better. iPodLinux is nothing particularly
interesting anyway. Podzilla is not good enough to replace the
official frontend, and running Doom is fun for about 2 minutes, then
after that you notice it’s completely unplayable with the iPod
controls.

Anyway this is getting off topic. I’ll shut up now.On 5/2/06, Dustin Dettmer wrote:
