Jpg & SDL_Surface

Hello everyone!

First of all I’m showing jpg’s with SDL_Surfaces.
Now I really need the actual data of the picture, to
be able to analyse the picture.
Anyone knows how to retrieve the pixels from the
SDL_Surface and in what format the are saved.

If not anyone knows a lib or something that decodes
jpg data to bmp!??! The data in and out of this
"function" “class” or whatever it is, has to be loaded
from the memory, not from file.

Would appriciate everybit of help or reflections…
Please help…

Manymany thanks!!_____________________________________________________

You can read the surface’s “pixels”, like so:

  • ImageMagick’s “convert”, no doubt. Lets you convert between many file types.

  • The “djpeg” program from “libjpeg-progs” package; creates NetPBM files
which you can convert to a plethora of other file types. (BMP, GIF, PNG…)

Would appriciate everybit of help or reflections…
Please help…

Good luck!

Check out DevIL - developers image libraray. It’s free and got great
documentation and supports a wealth of formats, including jpg and
png. It is also quite simple to convert DevIL images to SDL_Surfaces
and vice verse…

see you,
