Keyboard layout unknown -dump from SDL 2.0

Hi,

I wrote my very first SDL 2.0 app, and it tells me:

Keyboard layout unknown, please send the following to the SDL mailing list (sdl at libsdl.org):

It didn’t ask me to tell anything about the platform, but I guess
you want to know at least something.

This is on Gentoo Linux on an Asus G50V laptop, SDL version
media-libs/libsdl-2.0.0_pre9999 (steam overlay) which should mean
it gets the tip from hg or equivalent snapshot.

Running under X, which says the following about my keys:

Plus some others like “Sleep Button”, “Power Button”, and “Video
Bus”, that are all configured as keyboards by the evdev DDX.

There you go. I tried quickly on googling, searching your mailing
list archives (whose search index was last updated in 2012), and
manually skimming through the topics on the last couple of months
without finding any mention of this.

I’m also not subscribed to the list.

Cheers,

Hi,

I wrote my very first SDL 2.0 app, and it tells me:

Keyboard layout unknown, please send the following to the SDL mailing list (sdl at libsdl.org):

Running under X, which says the following about my keys:

[ 51.634] () Option “xkb_rules” “evdev”
[ 51.634] (

[ 51.634] (**) Option “xkb_layout” “fi”

There you go. I tried quickly on googling, searching your mailing
list archives (whose search index was last updated in 2012), and
manually skimming through the topics on the last couple of months
without finding any mention of this.

I’m also not subscribed to the list.

Hmm, I find it quite odd, that myriads of people are not
complaining about their games not working with SDL2 on X11. Is this
issue really that rare? I would have expected the x11 layout
guessing code to be replaced by proper (XInput2?) solution by now,
but I doesn’t seem so. How come lots of people don’t hit this
problem? I’m sure many use their standard national keyboard layouts
instead of the US qwerty. Why don’t they have problems?

Can I set some variable somewhere to at least stop that debug spew?

Thanks,
pq
