Looking for pointers to write turn based strategy game (2d or 3d)

Hello group, I am looking for information and online/offline resources
to develop a C++ opengl (or directx) based strategy game. It is a
simple turn based game resembling monopoly. As a start, I am
developing a map editor tool at the moment using Microsoft Managed
Form controls and the performance is quite poor when map gets fairly
big. Any advice and suggestions are welcomed. Thank you.

My suggestion is to use SDL. :slight_smile:

For your Map Editor, if you are using GDI+ for rendering, the performance
is limited,
especially when alpha blending is used. I suggest you use OpenGL to render
