My Google Play Game Sucks, Why?

Hi,

So we released Beta1 of our new puzzle game on Google Play.
In 2 weeks, we only have about 60 installs with 2/3 deleting after playing?

We were hoping some nice SDL people here could visit below Google Play URL
and install and play the game on an Android O.S. smartphone or tablet
and give us opinions as to why the game sucks?

Here is the Google Play URL:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sixteenBitSoft.TetrisAttackArmageddon
(game is 100% free with no advertisements and no in-game purchases)

Thanks!
We plan to release Beta2 after we receive some constructive criticism of currently published Beta1…------------------------

I’ve been meaning to give this a go, just been busy :/In the meantime, the first thing worth fixing is that the images on the google play URL are all rotated 90 degrees (not sure if the game itself respects orientation), but def worth fixing.

Have you looked up statistics on user retention for Google Play? I think
afterward you’ll be a bit more pleased with a rate of 33%.

Hello.

My analysis of the game:

No technical difficulties, the game ran without problems. Nothing of
the usual stuff like, hey we
want to read your address book or we want to know where you are. I
played the game a few minutes, the gfx
are okay, i like the starfield background.

The game is okay and that i would say is the biggest problem. It is a
Tetris clone/variant, which is not a
bad thing, while Tetris was a landmark in gaming, today its days are
pretty much over, especially
simple Tetris games. I would guess there are hundreds of tetris games
in the Play Store, because it is easy
to code and you need very limited resources on the hardware and
developer side.

To sell something simple like such a game you would need a twist,
either really good gfx
or something special in the gameplay. Bejewled was a success because
it gave the player the right
dose of incentive to get the next highscore.

My tipp would be think about a new game ip. Do not clone Tetris,
PacMan, … think about new game ideas,
or try to combine ideas from different games into something new.

Hi Again!

Thank you to all the people who have played the game and provided feedback!
We have fixed the screenshots on Google Play.
Click below URL link to visit the updated Google Play page:

We are stuck on the playing piece graphics though.
We admit the current playing pieces are of poor quality (they were made in MS Office Publisher).
Anyone know how we could improve the playing piece graphics?
Here are the current playing piece graphics:

We are actively working on Beta2 now.
More feedback on current Beta1 is encouraged.

There are several free (with credit and sometimes other restriction) image
sites dedicated to game art, http://opengameart.org/ being the top of
