It’s RapidShare. You know, one of those websites for people to share
big files. The HTML web page provides a link to the actual ZIP.
Unfortunately, I got this message from RapidShare:
"Unfortunately right now our servers are overloaded and we have no
more download slots left for non-members. Of course you can also try
again later."On Wed, Jan 13, 2010 at 2:17 PM, wrote:

Seems hard nowadays to get a free and clean web hosting if you want just to
share a file. I’m a little curious, what happens if you send the file as an
attachment?

can’t you download it??? only 1 mb??? why this is such big deal, just click, wait 50 secs and download, that’s it. if you really want to try it, i added the whole essential things, i only used rapidshare… in our country, it’s not a problem(using rapidshare)… so you can download by clicking and waiting 50 seconds… thanks
sorry, i have lost interest. i generally dont bother if it doesnt work
with a simple wget. going through all that add crap and java junk is not
worth it.On Sat, 16 Jan 2010, a_kutluozen wrote:

I’m not a fan of rapidshare either. When I see a link to it I discard it
at once.On 16/01/2010 17:10, mattmatteh at mac.com wrote:

Unfortunately it isn’t easy to find free hosts with direct-download links.
When it comes to coding however, there are quite a few hosts where you
can get a free git/hg/svn repository, but of course this only works if
your project is open-source. (And no, it wouldn’t be a ‘wget’-able
download link, but it would be a (simple) ‘git clone git://…’ which is
just 4 more characters to type ) (There’s github, gitorious,
sourceforge, assembla, …)
(Although you can commit binary files to such a repository, but I’m
not sure if the terms of use allow committing release-tarballs/zipfiles,
although I don’t believe it is explicitly forbidden (yet) - and then,
you can have a direct download link on some of those hosts, since they
allow web-listing of project files + downloads)>
I’d suggest making a website on one of those lame sites that forces ads to
be displayed but gives you a free subdomain. The ads don’t matter if you’re
just posting a direct link. I used webeve (http://webeve.com/) before I
decided to buy my own domain. 100 Mb should be enough for all your demos.
