NO NEW FEATURES, JUST BUGFIXES

If so, when?
WHEN YOU SUBMIT PATCHES

(Didn’t wanna yell, just wanted the answers to stand out.)
Is there a reason you want a new 1.2 release? Most work is going into 1.3

cheers,

hi,

we at the pygame project (SDL for python) are trying to time our release.
So if there’s a new SDL soon we’ll want to do tests with it, and make sure
new features are wrapped.

So if there is a release planned for soon(1-3 months), we will wait,
otherwise we won’t wait.

SDL 1.3 is not an option for us now, we are waiting until it gets further
along (api stablises, and distros start having it). There might be some
experimental work wrapping it, but it won’t be in our main release for quite
a while.

Ok,

in that case, you can test the SVN version, but as far as I know, there is a feature freeze for 1.2.

Lots of people do submit patches for certain issues, but even then, those do not change the API, unless maybe you want to add OpenGL 3.0 support (I don’t think pygame uses OpenGL, but I never coded in Python, so I wouldn’t know).

Aside from that, someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that the current release is one of the final ones in 1.2. Testing against SVN would definitely not hurt in any case to ensure that none of the current updates broke anything.

Hi,

Our windows build uses svn SDL for some required patches. However with that
platform we build our own SDL. Other platforms we use the system SDL(which
often use their own patches).

btw, This is just a request for information, so we can time our release…
not a “please release a new SDL” request

ps. the pygame project does submit patches and bug reports.

What do I look like, someone who’s not lazy? :stuck_out_tongue:

Fine fine, fixed it.

Hi,

Yes, but with no specific timeframe. You’re probably fine releasing a new version of Pygame based on the current 1.2 release.
