New to the list

Hi all,
i’ve just joined to the PD list; I’m a computer-musician-developer using
Csound (see my home-page).

I want to add some visual GUI to Csound using FLTK toolkit. I also want
to make my Csound version source compatible beetween platforms (mainly
Windows/Linux-Unix). I saw that SDL seems to offer a multi-platform API
for graphics/sound/input-devices.

Is SDL compatible with FLTK?

Best regards–

Hello, I am new to the list.

I would like to introduce myself,
my name is Marcel, I’m 23 years old and living in D?sseldorf,
Germany. I’m working as a Solaris sysadmin, even tho I’m
a geek I enjoy sports a lot, doing fitness coaching and
nutrition consultation.
And of course I do enjoy programming (mainly C99)
Enough about myself now.

I’m just writing because I want to thank everyone involved
in the development of SDL.
Been using SDL for quite some time now, guess its been some
years since i first used it.
I’m also reading every available book about,
some are hard to get here but still worth it.

I am really interested in SDL 1.3 and the direction it goes to.
Already caught up some stuff from the list via the forums frontend.
Unfortunately I could not find a lot of information on the doc wiki.
I’d really like to know what are the “killer-features” that SDL 1.3
will bring. For example the glSDL website said that they stopped
working on it because SDL 1.3 will have those features by default.

Maybe someone would be so kind and post a list with the most
important changes.

If this has been requested a million times before I hereby
apologize for the caused traffic and for stealing your time.

Best Regard

Hi Marcel,

I’m also living in Dusseldorf. :slight_smile:

Some of the killer features for SDL 1.3 from the top of my head are:

  • Multiple windows are now supported;
  • 2D operations are done using 3D API where available (DX and OpengGL);
  • Surfaces will become a kind of textures;
  • There is work being done to improve multithreading support (interlocked
    counter changes, for example);

I cannot remember the rest, but surely someone else can pinpoint what I have
forgoten, and correct
me as well. :slight_smile:

Happy coding,
