Newbie: How to catch an Event from a SDL Window?

I want to change the appearance of the SDL window when
it get focus/unfocus. How can I catch the event?

Use the APPACTIVE event, here’s an example:

This isn’t a very… obscure part of SDL, you could have perhaps tried
to figure this out on your own instead of mailing the list.

Is there an SDL developer IRC channel somewhere? I kind of feel like
that would be an appropriate place to ask these simple kinds of
