Official Port Of SDL To Google’s Android OS Platform???

Hi,

My team and I have decided to port our last game:
TetriCrisis 3 100% C.P.U.
to Google’s Android OS SmartPhone platform.

Is there an official port of the following to this platform yet?:

  • SDL
  • SDL_Image
  • SDL_Mixer
  • SDL_TTf

Did some googling but did not find anything about this.
Hope someone can shed some light on this.
Thanks!

You will have to wait for Android 2.3 for having proper C/C++ support in
Android.

The versions between 1.5 and 2.2 only allow you to access native code via
JNI.

So beware that the current SDL/Android attempts require a bit of Java in
your applications. On Thu, Dec 16, 2010 at 4:50 PM, Jesse Palser wrote:

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Guess my team and I will wait.
The absolute most important is SDL_Mixer support,
as the game has about 30 minutes of MOD format music.
(converting MOD to OGG would make the 7MB game way too large)

Any release date set for Android OS ver. 2.3 ?

Thanks!

Hi,

Apparently the development SDK
for Android 2.3 has been released.---------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://developer.android.com/sdk/ndk/overview.html

(Rollout of 2.3 to devices should be soon.)

When will SDL, SDL_Image, SDL_Mixer, & SDL_TTF
be ported to the new Android 2.3 OS ?

Thanks!

You may want to look at the DUMB library for playing MOD (it can play
xm/s3m/it as well).

http://dumb.sourceforge.net/index.php?page=about

Although you would probably still need SDL_Mixer to mix all the sounds
together.On 12/16/2010 09:18 AM, Jesse Palser wrote:

I’ll wait for SDL/SDL_Image/SDL_Mixer/SDL_TTF
to be ported to Android 2.3 OS

It should also be noted that the official SDL port is SDL 1.3, not SDL 1.2. So you will require modifications to your program to use the official port.------------------------
EM3 Nathaniel Fries, U.S. Navy

http://natefries.net/

there is a port ongoing at http://www.anddev.org/code-snippets-for-android-f33/sdl-port-for-android-sdk-ndk-1-6-t9218.html
It works very well and it supports playing mod files through SDL_Mixer and also support SDL_Image lib.
The coder is also a very kind person that helps a lot with answers.
