Hi,
I would like to create an aplication capable of displaying messages on
top of all windows just like the one that notify that a user is online
in amsn or that a download is finished with emule…
I want to do this on my linux box, how can I do that ?

You’re on the wrong mailing list, SDL is more of a multimeida API, you’ll want to use
something like GNOME, wxWindows, or QT.
