OpenGL contexts

Hi !

I guess you can all forget about my previous mail about using
wglUseFontOutlines with SDL, it will not be possible any way, I have to use
another library instead of SDL, the GL_hdc and GL_hrc are not even declared
as exported in the dll files so I will not be able to use them outside the
DLL anyway.

Check out TexFont, a font system for OpenGL:

Yeah, I suggest that you avoid using system fonts for OpenGL applications
(or games in general), unless you know you are never going to port them to
another platform.

Hi !

I fixed it, I used freetype and GLTT instead to get outline fonts in SDL.

Actually, does anyone know FreeType fonts that can be freely
redistributed? Which are at least half-decent good?

Hi !

I have found some good fonts here:

I was wondering if anyone else has had
problems debugging OpenGL programs from
Microsoft Visual Studio when using Matrox
G400.

Every time I exit my SDL OpenGL program,
Matrox G400 gives exception in some DLL.
I was wondering if someone knows how to
avoid this (without disabling hardware
acceleration). Thanks!

It might be a bug in the Matrox drivers. I’ve had similar exceptions
happening with an OpenGL app and it wasn’t using SDL. (I wasn’t using
a Matrox G400, either)

Try your app on another machine, with a different video card and see
if it still happens. Maybe you’re doing something weird with the
OpenGL API.–

I don’t have any problems with SDL and OpenGL with Matrox G400 but I
only use MS Visual Studio a few times. Never locked, never raised
exceptions. I’m using the latest Matrox drivers, the latest Matrox bios
update and Windows ME.

What DLL? Check if you are not doing something really bad with the
OpenGL API.
