[OT]-Got an internship w/ game company - Making HTML5 2D game…

Hi,

I sent out a video game portfolio to some companies recently.
Got some responses and ultimately accepted an internship with one of them.

The game in the portfolio used SDL 1.2, SDL_Image, SDL_Mixer, SDL_TTF, &
OpenGL®.
Just want to thank all the people who made SDL.
My game would not have been possible without it.

My first project with the game company is a memory matching game in HTML5.
I’ve got a late alpha version up and running and was hoping some of you
could test it.

Game is called: “Memories of Balloons”.
I tested it in the following browsers:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer v9.0 (100% operational)
  • Mozilla Firefox v5.0.1 (Music won’t loop - plays 1 time and stops?)
  • Google Chrome v13.0 (100% operational)
  • Apple Safari v5.1 (No audio?)
(browsers were ran on Microsoft® Windows® Home Premium 64Bit)

If you would like to play the game then please visit this URL:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Before I started this project, I knew absolutely nothing about
JavaScript & HTML5.
Been using Google search to research for this game project with good
results.

If you have any issues or suggestions for improvement then feel free to
reply…
Thanks!

Congratulations for your internship! SDL is an awesome tool, isnt it?

As for the game, I liked the concept, that is, clicking on duplicate
ballons. One thing that I might sugest is that the sounds doesn’t match with
the background music. For example, when you click on a duplciate and then
there’s some trumpets, it feels a little awkward with that chillout music on
the background.

Keep up the work, Jesse.

Hi,

Fixed the music looping on Firefox browser.
(updated the game on the site)
Apparently looping music on Firefox is not yet implemented
so I play the music one time and detect when finished and play it again.
