find it? does a library for this exist that runs alongside sdl?

There was some talk about ‘SoLoud’ a while ago.

Not sure it can do pitch shift, but can speed up/slow down samples.

OpenAL has pitch shift (speed-up/slow-down type, not time-independent
type). I use it all the time with ALmixer and SDL.
