Hi everyone,

I’m thinking of extending SDL_mixer to allow one of the available
algorithmic, realtime music synthesizers such as RTcmix, pd, or jmax
to behave as just another input stream to SDL_mixer. The goal is
to provide one more option for background music, which could vary
according to user parameters (speed, rate of turn, altitude, etc) in
addition to (generally non-interactive) MP3, MOD/IT/S3M/XM and MID
files.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best place to start, and what
to watch out for? Or are there interactive/realtime extensions to
Timidity or trackers that I’ve overlooked? (I plan on starting by
looking at how mikmod, timidity and smpeg are wrapped by SDL and trying
to emulate this with one of the above, eg. RTcmix)

Thanks for any pointers, advice or alternate strategies,
