I solved the problem and maybe this is also interesting for others:
The crash of the sdl-truetype-font-lib was a result of a problem in the
underlying freetype-library! First I had freetype-version 2.1.10-r2,
there I had the effect that sdl-ttf returned error 1 without giving any
error-messages when trying to render a font.
Now I downdated to version 2.1.9-r1 and it works!
