Problems: Compiling SDL_Image with MinGW

I tried to compile the SDL_Image library with the MinGW Package from the libsdl page
and this error appears on the screen :

checking for ld used by GCC… no
configure: error: no acceptable ld found in $PATH

But ld is in the PATH. Is the ld of the Package to old ???

Try “LD=ld.exe ./configure”

You may have to delete config.cache first.

Try “LD=ld.exe ./configure”

You may have to delete config.cache first.

I deleted config.cache first and then run ./configure but it stops with the same error message.

As a work around, you could manually edit the configure file.

Just search for “no acceptable ld” in the configure script.
Ca. 10 lines above, there should be a line:
LD="$lt_cv_path_LD"

Replace this with:
LD=my_path_to_ld/ld.exe
( normally LD=/gcc-2.95.2/bin/ld.exe )

Not really satisfying but it should work.

Someone should provide a new mingw package.

Typed export LD=ld and that solved the problem !
