Problems with OpenGL under Windows 2000

With a Matrox G400 card, under Windows 2000, there’s a strange "fickering"
in one of the faces,
for example, of a rotating pyramid. The strange thing is that I didn’t
notice problem under Windows 98 or under Windows 2000 with games…
Any idea? I tried both last and certified drivers, so I don’t think the
problem is in the drivers.–

It’s probably not a problem in SDL. You’re calling the Windows GL library
directly, SDL isn’t doing any translation of the GL calls. In general,
visual artifacts in GL programs are a problem with the calls made and/or
the drivers being used.

See ya,
-Sam Lantinga, Lead Programmer, Loki Entertainment Software

It may be that your Matrox doesn’t support a 32-bit depth buffer? I
compiled it and ran it on a Win95 machine that doesn’t have an
OpenGL-accelerated card (it ran in a window, funny because 1024x768x32 is
supported by my video card) and also on a more powerful machine with an
accelerator, running NT4.

I didn’t notice flickering in either case.–

There’s the problem only on Windows 2000 (it perfectly works on Windows 98),
and only fullscreen, in a window it works normally.
So it’s neither my card’s fault…
Anyway, I tried three versions of the drivers, the last certified, and the
last two non-certified (the most recent).–

Send an e-mail to Matrox with your code (and maybe a compiled version) to
ask them to verify they can reproduce the problem and to see if they can
tell that it’s a bug in their driver.–
