Question about the version of SDL in the CVS

Hi all.

I noticed on the SDL homepage that one should be using the
devel_1_1_0 CVS branch for the most up to date SDL code.
This seems to contradict the README.CVS file which says
nothing about a CVS branch. Is it really such a good
idea to use a branch for the “development” version?
Most people would expect to find the most recent version
on the HEAD not off on some branch. Is this just a
temporary thing?

thanks

OK: The development branch is 1.1; the stable branch is 1.0. My advice: Use
1.1, it’s amazingly stable for a development branch, and has features that
actually make it useful. (OpenGL bindings/DGA 2.0/etc.) Good stuff. (Loki
titles use the development branch)

Your tagline says that you’re an affiliate of Red Hat. If this is to ascern
what’d be best in the next release, I’d suggest that you also bundle the
SDL_Image, SDLMixer, and SMPEG libraries… if nothing else, then definitely
the last one. All libraries can be found at
www.devolution.com/~slouken/projects/SDL .

Hi all.

Well, it is supposed to be temporary, but SDL 1.1 is proving to be
incredibly useful and reliable. The only major thing lacking before
it moves to 1.2 is documentation (anybody interested, help Akawaka:
http://www.devolution.com/~slouken/SDL/doc-project.html)

For release, I would recommend including both SDL 1.0 and 1.1 runtimes,
as well as the SDL 1.1 development package. I will be releasing SDL 1.1.3
in the near future which will have some nice stability enhancements and
new features.

See ya!
