Re Linux and 3dfx

I only want to use the 3d of my Vodoo3000 to use the OpenGl of the SDL which
doesn’t work without Mesa.
So if it xas you which Xfree version would you install?

That depends on what you want to do, and what your expectations
are. It’s a very large question, so as brief as possible:

3.3.x: fast, stable, fullscreen only, <= V3k only
4.0.x: slower, less stable, windowed, doesn’t take your system down as
bad if you crash, >= Banshee only

Developers tend to use 4.0.x, users to use 3.3.x. But these are broad
generalizations.

I have done all these thing successfully on a Voodoo 3 2000. I’ve used
mesa all-along. There is a glide driver of some sort. I’d be be glad
to give any hints I can. Just ask and I’ll dig up what i can.
