Rebuilding SDL_image, SDL_sound, SDL_ttf, etc., with new SDL

I use various SDL libraries, like SDL_image, SDL_sound, and SDL_ttf. What I’m wondering is, whenever a new version of SDL2 comes out, do I need to rebuild all of my old SDL-based libraries with the new version of SDL? Sometimes I use .a static libraries and sometimes I use .frameworks and sometimes I use .dll dynamic libraries and I’m not sure if that makes a difference.

Usually not. SDL 2.0 is still in development so we haven’t frozen any
APIs, but it’s been very stable API-wise for over a year, so it’s not very
likely you’ll need to rebuild. Those libraries in particular are using
core APIs that are extremely stable.

Note that I’m talking about going from SDL 2.0 pre-release to another SDL
2.0 prerelease. If you’re migrating from SDL 1.2 you definitely need to
recompile as binary compatibility has changed. On Sun, Sep 23, 2012 at 7:06 AM, Trev wrote:
