SDL 1.3 reliability?

How stable is the 1.3 branch now? Is it good enough for non-released
development? I’m starting a new (open source) SDL-based project, and
it won’t be ready anytime soon, so I’m investigating the possibility
of linking on CVS SDL 1.3 right away from day one so I can use the new
features right now, and wait until SDL 1.3 is officially released
before doing serious releases. Is it a realistic plan, or completely
foolish?

Thanks–

Well, all the massive build system and C library support changes in SDL 1.2
are going to be merged into SDL 1.3, and then lots of pending API enhancements
are going to be added. So it’ll be a very fluid target for a little while.

Is there anything in particular that you’re looking to use in SDL 1.3?
