SDL 1.3 & USB Joysticks/Gamepads (Linux)

Hi all,

I’m using SDL 1.3 (hg) on a Ubuntu Linux 10.04. I have a Logitech
RumblePad 2 attached via USB to the machine. This is also registered by
the system, as shown in the approrpiate log files or dmesg output:

[23107.315100] input: Logitech Logitech RumblePad 2 USB as
/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.2/usb5/5-1/5-1:1.0/input/input8
[23107.315224] logitech 0003:046D:C218.0005: input,hidraw2: USB HID
v1.10 Joystick [Logitech Logitech RumblePad 2 USB] on
usb-0000:00:1a.2-1/input0
[23107.315232] logitech 0003:046D:C218.0005: Force feedback for Logitech
Rumblepad 2 by Anssi Hannula <anssi.hannula at gmail.com>

SDL 1.3 does not seem to detect this gamepad. Specifically, calling
SDL_NumJoysticks() always returns 0. Is this still an open issue with
SDL 1.3 (i.e. missing functionality), or are there Linux users here that
have managed to get SDL 1.3 working with USB Joysticks/Gamepads?

Best regards,

Matthias
