# SDL Alsa linking problems

I can’t link any programs with the current CVS version of SDL. The Alsa  
module calls a procedure named “snd\_pcm\_open\_preferred” that cannot be  
resolved. I’m running SuSE 7.0, which comes with Alsa 0.5.8 . But even  
Alsa 0.5.10 , which seems to be the most recent version, doesn’t have  
such a function.

The 1.1.7 tarball from [libsdl.org](http://libsdl.org) runs fine.
