Sdl and debian woody

Dear all,

I encounter some problems with the installation of SDL on my (old)
laptop. I installed Debian Woody with the following SDL related debs;

libsdl-image (1.2.1-2)
libsdl-mixer (1.2.1-5)
libsdl1.2debian-all (1.2.4.1)

I expected to have ‘showimage’ (from sdl_image) and at least
’sdl-config’ but both were missing so I installed SDL 1.2.5 from
source. Then I went on to SDL image but this didn’t work because the
ibraries libjpeg, libpng and zlib could not be found. I have

libjpeg.so.62(.0.0),
libpng.so.3.1.2.1
libz.so.1

in /usr/lib so I guess I do something wrong.

I hope someone can help me out

Thanks in advance,
Rob

You want libsdl1.2-dev package as well

Ditto for SDL_mixer and SDL_image

The main packages contain only what’s needed for other
packages (pre-compiled binaries) to run: the SDL library object files.

The -dev packages include the .h header files, man pages, sdl-config, etc.

Hi

You need the development versions of the libraries. (You have the actual
libraries on your system but not the header files)

libjpeg62-dev
libpng-dev
zlib1g-dev

You forgot to install the -dev packages for all of those. On 25-Nov-2002, Rob van Putten wrote:
