Sdl and xv

hi
What is the diffrence between sdl and xv-extension? They all have some well
defined interfaces for video playing. And it seems that sdl is based on
xv-extension when it is used on XFree86.
In fact,my boss gives me a piece of program that uses sdl for video
playing. He wants me to use xv-extension instead of sdl. Is it possible and
necessary?

AFAIK SDL uses XVideo for stuff like YUV overlays and such (used for video
playing if you have YUV colorspace movies). Now, going over to XVideo only
would force you to do YUV->RGB conversion yourself. Its better to just keep
SDL, so you can display video safely on no YUV acceleration targets (basically
everything but XVideo and DX /w YUV overlays)On 09-Dec-2002, xc wrote:
