SDL Apps in Windows are very slow

Hi.
I tried to compile some sdl apps on windows with Dev C++ and SDL_Image
SDl_Mixer and SDL_ttf.
I used Devcpp package to install sdl
(http://devpaks.org/category.php?category=SDL and
http://old.devpaks.org/show.php?devpak=142).
I Compile with :
-lSDLmain -lSDL -lSDL_mixer -lSDL_image -lSDL_ttf .

I try with DevCpp default sdl app (this should work !), with some
other apps wich work on linux too, and all the things I compile under
Windows are realy realy slow (30sec to show any window …).

But SDL games, like wesnoth, work on the same Windows, so it’s not a
driver problem.

Can anyone help me ? =)

try windib driver. By default SDL uses directx under windows if
available, but in my boxes is noticeably slower than using windib.
Doublebuffering + fullscreen + hardware surfaces + directx seems to be a bad
combination (anyone has experienced the same?).

Create an environment variable called SDL_VIDEODRIVER and assign the

value “windib” (without the quotes) and try++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
