Hey all, I was just going through some of the older mailing list archives
(primarily those from when I was at Intel and wasn’t able to really
participate on this list ) and I came across this one:
http://www.lokigames.com/ml/sdl/8102.html
Which was from Sam Lantinga and dealt with an “alliance” betwixt Trolltech
and Loki… The quote that caught my eye was this:
The possibility exists that Qt will be ported to SDL as a framebuffer
target, so that Qt would provide a widget toolkit on top of the existing
SDL framework. I would like to see this with GTk as well.
It’s also possible that TrollTech may port SDL as a widget in the Qt
heirarchy, in the same way that SDL currently uses X11. This would
allow “embedded” SDL framebuffer output within a normal GUI framework.
Has any progress on any ofthese ever been done? Specificially, I’m the most
interested in the SDL widget port in Qt heirarchy (for a project I am
involved with right now)… but it all sounds interesting nonetheless…
So… anyone know if anything is/has happening/happened here? (If not by
Trolltech or Loki, I would wager something could still be done by way of base
class extensions, much like what most of KDE’s libs are…)–

Nothing is happening that I know of. It keeps coming up every so often,
but nobody that I know of has written real code. If you’re interested in
working on it, let me know.
See ya!

If I had the time, I’d love to…
If someone else was willing to help out (read, “shared project administration”)
to take up any slack, I’d be willing. On Wed, 02 May 2001, you wrote:
