SDL Blit, then OpenGL

Is it possible to use SDL for most of a game, and then switch over to OpenGL
for certain parts of the game (bonus level’s, battle modes, etc) I know,
that when asking for the display you have to specify if you’re using OpenGL
or not, but is there a way to do this?________________________________________________________________________

I recently added code to SDL (not all is in CVS at the moment) that
allows mixing of 2D SDL_Surfaces with OpenGL rendering. You can pass
SDL_OPENGLBLIT to SetVideomode to trigger it. I’ll write a little doc
about it once I get some time. Also note that at the moment it doesn’t
support 565 (16 bit) directly but has to convert it at runtime - this is
changed in my version of SDL but that is not in CVS yet.–
