SDL_image dll dependence

I am using SDL_image in my current project, and I find it works
perfectly for quickly loading in .GIF files. However, in order to run
(at least on my Win98 system), it demands that I have the jpeg and png
dlls present too, even though I don’t use those image types in my game.
Is there a way to get around this, or would I have to rebuild SDL_image
myself with support for those types removed, perhaps?–
