THANK YOU Johannes for the extremely thorough response. 
It’s very motivating to be using a library with such a healthy
community around it.
The information you gave out deserves a spot in the docs somewhere and
I think your suggested change makes a lot of sense.
It also stands to reason that something should be included in the
readme that comes with the OS X installation…
