I’ve cobbled together a MIDI system designed to speak to an SDL app - it
can be either polled or multithreaded. At this time it -is-
linux-specific… If anyone’s interested I’ll cobble together a tiny
distrib and post it somewhere. It uses SDL_USEREVENT…SDL_USEREVENT+2
for posting MIDI events - and -does- keep full time info from what little
I know about MIDI timing g. Oh, which events it uses is programmable.
Works fine for my Korg - I’ve been playing with a test app that uses
mikmod to play sounds based on keypresses - but -that- app needs more
work.
G’day, eh?

PS: I’ll only post if anyone’s interested. Probably upload it to my
geocities account So reply - via private email if that’s okay. If
there’s anyone interested I’ll post the link here…
