There’s lots of new goodies on the SDL website, for your enjoyment:

  • The book “Programming Linux Games” (covering SDL) is now available in
    electronic format from the author’s site.
  • Spaceship Galaxy, a horizontal shooter game using the GameBlade, has been
    added to the games page.
  • MusicBox, A GNUstep music manager, has been added to the applications page.
  • Nether Earth Remake, A simple real time strategy game, has been added to
    the games page.
  • NET2, A multi-threaded, event driven, network IO library for SDL, has been
    added to the libraries page.
  • Airstrike, 2d biplane dogfight fun, has been added to the games page.
  • TunnelWars, Multi-player action game, similar to tunnellers, has been added
    to the games page.
  • SpacePong, pong game in space vs. the AI, using the GameBlade for graphics,
    music and sounds, has been added to the games page.
  • Falling Block Game, Falling Block Game is an OpenGL Tetris clone, has been
    added to the games page.
  • eSMS, Free Sega Game Gear and Master System emulator, has been added to
    the applications page.
  • GameBlade, a C++ Framework for SDL, SDL_image and SDL_mixer making game
    development even easier than it already is, without putting any restrictions
    on the complexity of the game, has been added to the libraries page.
  • UGS Universe Generator System, 3D engine using SDL and OpenGL, has been
    added to the libraries page.
  • ARAnyM, an Atari ST/TT/Falcon virtual machine - a software only TOS clone,
    has been added to the applications page.
  • fltk-demo, A demo using SDL with FLTK, has been added to the demos page.
  • SFont / BFont font builder, A utility which creates SFont / BFont compatible
    fonts, without any manual work required, has been added to the applications
    page.
  • SpaceJumper, A little space shooter written in C++, has been added to the
    games page.
  • DOSBox, X86 pc emulator with integrated dos., has been added to the
    applications page.
  • GIME 2D Game Toolkit, a great tool for fast prototyping of 2D games,
    tightly integrated with the Lua programming language, has been added to
    the libraries page.
  • Pete’s Pygame tutorial on moving images around has been added to the
    tutorials page.
  • KEGS, an Apple // GS emulator written for HP/UX, has been ported to Mac OS X.
    The Linux/UNIX port of KEGS is also available.
  • Blobs, Arcade-style game where you stop blobs from overrunning the planet,
    has been added to the games page.
  • Wakkabox, An amusing block shuffling puzzle game written in C using SDL,
    has been added to the games page.
  • ships, Space shooting game for one or two players has been added to the
    games page.
  • cars, Simple car racing game for 4 players., has been added to the games page.
  • Pachi el marciano demo, A cool platforms game simmilar to Manic Miner,
    has been added to the games page.
  • Asteroids, A clone of the classic arcade game, in which you control a fancy
    space-vessel who has to destroy waves of meteors, who spawn into smaller ones
    when you hit them, has been added to the games page.
  • nmaFPS, A simple 3-D First Person Shooter, has been added to the games page.
  • Educational Technology Resources, Inc. has made a generous donation toward

  • FCE Ultra, NES and Famicom emulator., has been added to the applications page.
  • Hexy, A colorful puzzle game, written in Euphoria, includes source,
    has been added to the games page.
  • TKS, free and portable OpenGL/network script language, has been added to
    the applications page.
  • Fast Events, A fast thread based replacement for SDL event routines,
    has been added to the libraries page.
  • sbcd, Simple curses CD player for linux/unix, with an interface based on
    the ms-dos play utility that came with SoundBlaster 16’s, has been added
    to the applications page.
  • PyKyra, a fast game development framework for Python, based on SDL and the
    Kyra engine, has been added to the libraries page.
  • Widelands, a strategy game inspired by Settlers 2 by BlueByte, has been
    added to the games page.
  • Sherman’s aquarium, Screensaver with the figures from the comic Sherman’s
    Lagoon, has been added to the applications page.
  • ZXLIB, an easy to use, object oriented C++, 2D game library, featuring Sprite
    and game Arena classes, has been added to the libraries page.
  • virtualitty, network-distributed shared 3D world environment, has been added
    to the libraries page.
  • Infernal Contractor II, raise mayhem in this fast-paced office simulation,
    has been added to the games page.
  • Stargun, shoot em up game written in C++, has been added to the games page.
  • tkplay, Simple CD player which uses interaction between C and Tcl/Tk, has
    been added to the demos page.
  • The new SDL credits web page is up!
  • Lea Anthony converted the SDL Documentation Project into Windows Help format.
  • Openglad, Linux port of the old (and recently open sourced) DOS Gauntlet-style
    RPG, Gladiator, has been added to the games page.
