SDL Programmers' Demographics

Well, that one post on game programmer posts seems to show a number of
interesting things about us programmers of SDL. It seems that the largest
concentration is in Europe, which probably comes as a surprise to many.
There aren’t nearly as many SDL users in North America as one might
expect. I’m probably the only one who lives in the entire Asia-Pacific
region. It’s kinda strange.–

nah, it’s just europeans who are insecure enough to feel that they
have to tell everyone else on the list where they are
(as if people haven’t noticed that from the european domination of the
planet during the last 10-20 centuries or so)

I don’t have any market figures, but isn’t Linux much more popular in
Europe than in North America? SDL is primarily used for Linux game
development, even though it does support other platforms equally well.

I can think of at least 10 people who use SDL in the US or Canada, are
on this list, are active in #SDL, but did not reply. (I’m one). I think
the way the post was worded, it was asking how many people are in
Europe, so ONLY the Europeans answered…

Sam should put a poll on his web site, since that’s a much better way to
handle it than a zillion posts on the mailing list.

Agreed, I did not reply either, because I did not want to fuel
the spam involved in a one word reply with the entire message
quoted after it. Sheesh.

In fact, instead of a poll, it might be good to have a registration
system. SDL developers can register on the sight, maybe list thier
specialties and what hardware they use, ect.
