SDL_RWops tutorial

Hi all,

I’m not sure where the correct place to announce
this is, so I’m going to do so here and then get
corrected
I’ve been playing with SDL for a while, and I’ve
done a few things that got me thinking “I should write
a tutorial about this” - so I started doing exactly
that. My generic tutorial page can be found at:

http://www.kekkai.org/roger/sdl/index.html

So far, the only tutorial on there covers the
SDL_RWops which - as far as I know - isn’t really
documented anywhere but in the header file so I’m
hoping it’ll be useful.
Other tutorials that I might do in the future
include using SDL_Mixer, OpenAL & SDL, and SDL & PLIB
(though that would probably be pretty PLIB-biased).

Hope it’s helpful!=====

I do want to take the time to thank you for writing this. Most people
have no idea just how absolutely cool and amazing and perfect for any
number of tasks SDL_RWops really is. The first time I took a look at the
header my first response was a series of loud explitives since I had not
too long before this designed a similar system to implement a sort of
virtual filesystem.

SDL_RWops was actually more than sufficient to handle the task, it even
had the solution to a flaw in my own design I was unsure of related to the
fact that the virtual directory could be in RAM or in a disk file. It was
the meat and potatoes of my design, with a convenient little design fix to
boot. Add some steamed veggies and a little garnish and you’ve got
dinner. Which is good because I’m getting hungry. =)

Seriously, this is a very good thing and I have bookmarked your site so I
can give it to others who ask about that kind of thing. On Mon, Sep 03, 2001 at 11:35:16AM -0700, Roger Ostrander wrote:
