Sorry if these have already been mentioned before.
I would like to see the following useful things added to the SDL
cross-platform.
TimeZone : So you can get the relevant timezone of the local machine.
HDSerial : The Hard Drive Serial number.
Im not sure if they are possible, but they would be nice to have for
certain apps.

This should be possible (at least for MacOS, Windows and linux; dunno
about BeOS)
HDSerial : The Hard Drive Serial number.
No portable way for this! This is something completly OS specific, or
even file system specific, if it exists at all. Or if you talk about
"hardware" serials - what about SCSI, USB, IDE etc. disk?
In fact, no program should relay on this data, not even for copy
protection (the only application I can think of right now - but
copyprotection is pointless anyway).
