Hi! First of all let me thank you for porting Maelstrom to Linux!! I
remember first playing it on my Macintosh Quadra 700 (now THAT was a
flash machine!!) and being very impressed. Maelstrom is a fantastic
game.
The only problem is ever since I upgraded from my AWE64 to an Aureal
8830 based card, SDL audio does not work.
The Aureal drivers are broken. Try running ESD and set the following
environment variable: export SDL_AUDIODRIVER=esd
