SDL2-Build Windows Store App for Windows 8.x/10?

Hi,

Was just wondering if it was possible to build a Windows Store app
with SDL2 using Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 Community?

The days of downloading an app/game from a source other than Windows Store are fading fast…
Thanks!------------------------

Following the docs I could successfully build & release a Windows store app
for Windows 10 as UWP app:

This is based off SDL trunk from about 1 month ago.

Yes, this is possible. For WinRT/UWP apps, see docs\README-winrt.md in SDL2’s source code for further details.

Microsoft also has a newish ‘Desktop App Converter’ that can package Win32 apps for distribution in the Win10 Store, for desktop machines (not Xbox One, though, I’ve asked), however I’ve yet to try it out myself.

Cheers,

Hi!

This “Desktop App Converter” sounds interesting…
I can just make SDL2 game in Code::Blocks and then this “Desktop App Converter” will make it Windows Store compliant?
That sounds great and much less painful…------------------------

Would the following work 100% if I build with Code::Blocks on Windows 10
and use “Desktop App Converter” to package it for Windows Store?:

  • SDL2
  • SDL2_Image
  • SDL2_Mixer
  • SDL2_TTF
  • SDL2_Net

Thanks!------------------------

I don’t know.

One thing I do know: the Desktop App Converter processed apps can’t target Xbox One or WinPhone. I asked a few people at MS about this, and they said that it could not. For now, it’s only for targeting full Win10.
