Steam In-Home Streaming

I usually don’t post about work topics on the SDL mailing list, but I
wanted to share with people what I’ve been working on for the last 6 months.

In-Home Streaming
NOVEMBER 20 - SLOUKEN http://steamcommunity.com/id/slouken
Many Steam game developers are currently working on native SteamOS titles,
which will result in the best possible living room experience being
delivered to their customers. In the meantime, we believe it?s important to
make sure that the existing catalog of games is also available to Steam
users in the living room. So we’re working on in-home streaming, a way for
people with good home networks to seamlessly play their Steam games
anywhere in the house.

We’ve posted a short series introducing the feature on Steam:
Part 1: Introductionhttp://steamcommunity.com/groups/homestream#announcements/detail/1496614934735532043

Part 2: Responsivenesshttp://steamcommunity.com/groups/homestream#announcements/detail/1496614934736122606

Part 3: Home Networkshttp://steamcommunity.com/groups/homestream#announcements/detail/1496614934736756460

Part 4: Beta Testinghttp://steamcommunity.com/groups/homestream#announcements/detail/1496614934737266844

Part 5: Q & Ahttp://steamcommunity.com/groups/homestream#announcements/detail/1496614934744208201

Please join our Steam In-Home
Streaminghttp://steamcommunity.com/groups/homestream community
group for more information and a chance to be selected for the upcoming
beta test.
Oh, and to bring it on topic, the client is an SDL application.

Cheers!

Can we get it working for non-Steam games?

I assume it would work with any game you add to your Steam Library as a Non-Steam Game?On 11/20/2013 01:34 PM, Jonathan Dearborn wrote:

Very nice, Sam.

One thing that struck me in your blog is that another thing you guys
should do with all your analytics is start a Consumer Reports like
review site/resource for hardware (not just limited to network
hardware) to help us figure out the best things to buy. Unlike other
hardware review sites which test things that are just coming to
market, you have real data on what actually works in practice in mass
numbers. (Perhaps this is also a case of where Valve’s idea of
monitizing user added value comes in as users may be able to figure
out how to improve collection of relevant data and digest it into
readable summaries.)
