Surround / Multichannel Sound

Hi!

I just wanted to know (I looked everywhere in the archive) if SDL
supported surround encoding (hardware or software) through some kind of
multichannel mixer or better yet, trough a spatial audio API. If so, is
it documented? What hardware is supported?

For the hardware I’m thinking specifically about nVidia’s nForce APU
able of realtime, AC3 / A52 encoding. Or Creative Labs’ Audigy 2…

thanks,

No, not at the moment, only stereo sound is supported.
You might want to check out OpenAL, they may or may not have hardware
support for that stuff now.

OK, but are there plans for spatial audio in SDL? Is there a plan to
merge, migrate, be compatible or collaborate with OpenAL?
